Wessex Internet is an award-winning broadband provider on a mission to transform rural connectivity across the Southwest. As we continue to expand our network, we're looking for a Town Build Civils Operative to join our growing Town Build team.

In this hands-on role, you'll support the delivery of our fibre infrastructure by carrying out excavations, duct installation, reinstatement, and associated civils work- playing a key part in bringing high-speed broadband to underserved communities.

What you'll be doing:

• Install and repair network ducting for customer connections

• Carry out excavations in the highway and reinstate surfaces to industry standards

• Identify and clear blockages safely and efficiently

• Operate machinery such as Stihl saws, wacker plates, and trench compactors (with correct certification)

• Install draw rope and drop cable following duct installation or repair

• Complete daily documentation including risk assessments, plant sheets, and vehicle logs

• Follow all health & safety procedures, ensuring compliance with company and client standards

• Deliver a high level of service to both internal teams and external customers

• Take responsibility for company tools, vehicles, and plant equipment

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Experience within telecoms, civils, or a similar operational/engineering environment

• Strong understanding of health & safety, including risk assessments and hazard identification

• Knowledge of signing, lighting, and guarding (NRSWA)

• Proven street works experience with relevant industry qualifications

• A proactive, reliable, and team-focused approach

• Good communication and customer service skills

Essential requirements:

• Full UK manual driving licence
